day 162 my people know people...have my people call your people

So Allie is over here, I invited her over for dinner and I haven’t hung out with her in a long time. The second she comes over she is one her phone, I hate that crap! I ask what she was doing over there on her phone, she said she was looking for a quote, um ok, well happy hunting, I am gonna go cook dinner. So we just ate and she is still here and still on her phone, so I figure she wouldn’t mind if I blogged. Whatever, it’s sorta a pet peeve of mine, when you are hanging out with me, you are talking to me, I need undivided attention! I always leave my phone out of site when I am hanging out with my friends and I expect people to do the same, I don't get it. But I can’t take it personally; she has always been a phone addict, even at church. Ok, I am done venting.
On to the fact that I got to know the guy who installs our cabinets for our customers a little better today. Only in Nashville does the "rough around the edges" cabinet guy double as a famous song writer. He wrote songs for Alabama and many other bands, his most famous song was High Cotton. His name is Scott Anders and is neighbors with Jason Aldean and his BFF is Luke Bryan's ex-publicist. Perfect, that’s the concert I want to go to!! He comes in a lot, I knew he was connected and I finally got the nerve to shamelessly hit him up for tickets to the Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan concert. He said he would ask around.....what what come on! Brandy and I want to go to this concert so bad, but are not willing to pay 1 million dollars to sit in a crawl space next to the ceiling. Did I mention that we both went to the same high school in small town suburbia? He is a fellow McEachern Indian from GA for cryin out loud! Fingers crossed and no whammies!

So Allie just left, I reached up and did a big yawn and asked what time it was because I was exhausted, she said it was 745pm and then called me an old lady, whatever, I don't care. So that’s that, I must reclaim the couch and watch CT on the Challenge.

day 161

Well today was interesting, I had an impromptu 6 hour meeting about a lot of stuff that had nothing to do with me, so in order to pay attention I turned into the court reporter and took 12 full pages of notes. I was with the owner of the company and some corporate people, so I thought it was important to act diligent. (I was also keeping track of how many times the new girl yawned) Who yawns 15 times in front of all of your bosses?
I just got done watching The Voice, it’s totally awesome, I love the dynamic of the judges, so fun. I am happy to add it to my roster of reality TV (and watching Blake Shelton doesn’t suck).

I have decided that when the time springs forward and we gain some warmth and daylight, I am getting a dog. I need a pooch back in my life; I miss my Jakey so much and have decided that its time. It has nothing to do with the fact that I am still hearing the people on the ceiling, and we are now adding what sounds like a lady humming to the mix. ITs so freaky! I am learning to deal with it, it’s unexplainable and I don't really know what to do. I just have to keep telling myself that I will wake up the next morning and everything will be fine in the light of day. I am thinking a dog will be just the distraction that I need around 11pm when the footsteps begin their walk-about around my ceiling.

160 yuck

I just made something not quite as good as the massive pot of squash baby food of yesterday. I somehow screwed up the tuna salad that I was making for my lunch tomorrow. I let my Ninja chop up some onions, celery, then I threw in the tuna, mayo and relish and the stupid thing pureed it instead of mixing in. yuck. So I thought that I would try and salvage it my pouring cornmeal in it and making tuna patties, um don't cook anything with mayo in it.. GROSS! FAIL!
Last night was not the hoorah I pictured, Kelly totally bailed on me, but I ain't mad at her, I got to experience watching a Superbowl all by myself. (I could have gone out with Jeremiah, but I am not feeling it…at all, so I told him I was in Atlanta so he wouldn’t bug me) Anyway, surprisingly, I didn't feel like the loser I thought I would, I was busy manning the squares that my co-workers put me in charge of.  I drew the numbers, completed the board, took a picture of it and texted the picture to everyone involved. I then split up all the money and put it into 4 envelopes, one for each quarter. My phone was blowing up all night; I got a glimpse of a day in the life of a bookie, so watching a great game while manning the books didn't suck. And I was home sweet home when it was time to go to bed.

Yuck I can't move past the pureed tuna. So I made yet another avocado & sprout wrap to get the taste out, I am obsessed with avocadoes, I eat about 4 a week. I can't help it.  My first day of “operation hiatus” went as planned, started my book (love it so far) worked out and ate great....on to day 2. But not before I watch the stupidest show ever, The Bachelor, I have no idea why I am still watching, I just am… maybe cause the smug, villainous, red toothed  model intrigues me) Also, I like to be in the loop when they talk about it on the Bert Show in the morning. .

day 159 Superbowl!

Productive weekend thus far! Yesterday I stocked the fridge with wholesome goodness, did all of my laundry (7 loads to be exact) I love that I can do 7 loads in 2 hours...it’s awesome. I did however pull a Spaswell at the laundry facility. I was trying to get into the door with my basket of clothes and laundry soap on top.  I lost my balance; the laundry soap went flying into the air, and landed upside-down just as the big heavy metal door shut. So now my brand new bottle of soap is upside down and being squeezed by the door forcing the liquid soap to gush out. I managed to rescue the soap, but not before half of it puddled up in front of the door. Oops. So people are now stepping in it, walking in, slipping and sliding on my soap, just tracking it everywhere. I just kept to myself and prayed no one would fall in front of me; hopefully no one broke their leg after I left...

Went to church for the first time at Cross Point, it’s just like Buckhead church (not as grandiose) but same concept (Non-denominational and casual). The second I walk in I run right into my boss, now I am all about building a relationship with my boss outside of work, but I like to separate church and state. I go to church to sing my little heart out and if I cry, so be it, but now I was sitting next to my 7 ft. tall boss and trying to remain not uncomfortable. I sang, I didn't throw my hand up or anything but sang loud enough to let him know I meant business. It was good, lot less awkward than I thought. Excited to start going and meeting some folks.

Now I am cooking from butternut squash soup from scratch….. who am I? I don’t even recognize myself sometimes. It’s got every vegetable you can think of in it, I purchased a food chopper, this little Ninja does the job, I love it! So I am all set, I am going on a hiatus from the world for the next 2 weeks. I bought 2 weeks’ worth of healthy food, bought me a book and I am going to do nothing but workout, read, cook and center myself. I have been going out a lot lately, I need to reel it in and lose some weight. So that is the plan, I bought The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, I plan on working out my brain muscle as well as my legs. Its 600 pages and my goal is to finish it before the movie comes out on DVD, I am banking it takes 3-4 months.

BUT before I hunker down, I must have one last hoorah, and what better way than a Super Bowl Party! We did the Squares at work, everyone pitched in a dollar for each square they wanted, I am in charge of this, we didn't sell all of the squares, so I have to go this party of Kelly's friend’s and sell the rest of them, it’s kind of stressful.

Ok, well I must get back to my soup, there is a massive amount so maybe that should be my dish I bring to the party, some people bring dip and I bring soup. This is my first time not going to Jim and Elisabeth's Party (9th annual) I have been to all of them except for 2( the 2 years the Stees were in the Superbowl) I am gonna really miss seeing everyone and driving the go-cart! If  it was Superbowl Saturday, I would be there, but can't be missing work on Monday. Ok, go um Giants I guess.

day 158...um rocky top? no no no

Big day...its official...got my Tennessee plates!! I love it here and still adjusting..a couple of differences off the top of my head between here and my old stompin ground....

No one pronounces their L's... it’s not cold its code, you’re not old you're ode, she doesn't have mold, she has mode AND it’s a $90 flat rate for your tag registration! No matter what car you drive...it’s not $323…its $90 what what!

I found this out after I spent 30 minutes in line at the police precinct getting my tag. I stood in line with a 19-year-old Rain Man with Tourettes. It was WILD! He was with is mom, he was autistic, he talked non-stop, like he had a word limit that he had to hit and he wanted beat his record from yesterday. The mom was so sweet and clearly had blocked her son out years ago, cause she was telling me her life story while he was talking about the fact that he was mad at the cops that peppered sprayed him 3 years ago. He was still mad about it, talked about that and the fact that he hated CNN and Obama and the world in general, all while his mom talked over him. I literally did not say one word, but was involved in a conversation with two people at the same time... it was pure insanity. I laughed a few times cause this guy was spitting out F bombs every other word while keeping a serious face, just kept talking and talking without taking a break or to let us know that he was changing subjects. Bless him and his mom’s heart, she was so proud of her son, it was an interesting time at the tag office.

day 157 ....6 more weeks of winter

I was all excited to cook a bunch of shrimp tonight. I planned on gettin all Bubba Gump like… had a few different bowls of seasonings happening… BBQ shrimp, Cajun shrimp, garlic shrimp, Italian shrimp, and blackened shrimp. How is the world did it all taste exactly the same??!!… I Gubba Bumped that all up! dangit

I hung out with Jeremiah for a bit tonight. He is this deep, name dropping musician who is very talented but we are not exactly soul mates. I try to act like I’m impressed with his inside track on random musicians as he quizzes me on names of guitarist and drummers while I’m humming the stupid Taylor Swift song that’s playing in the background. I must admit I am a local musician neophyte and plan to learn more, but right now I am Miss Mainstream USA. I mean it’s cool to know that you are rubbing elbows with the ex-guitarist for Kid Rock and the base dude from George Clinton & P Funk, but I think he finally realized that it doesn’t impress me. Dude, just make me laugh, that’s what going to impressive me. Basically the only thing we have in common is our shared hatred for the Patriots and I too had braces. Although, I got mine removed in high school (you can't really tell, but yes ol boy is sportin some bling on his top grill). I got mine removed after my they slapped em on with 8 baby teeth still holding on for dear life. Oh wait, then they yanked the baby teeth out, so I had braces with no teeth, just had to wait for the grown-up teeth to grow into the braces. I was HOT in the 10th grade.

day 156 random thoughts

AAAAhhh! I started watching Single Girls from Atlanta, a show on VH1 and I just watched the last one on OnDemand, is that it? Was it one season? It was just getting good! I need more information. Someone text me with the 411.
I worked out hard tonight! My bro put my on a physical therapy exercise regimen to help my knees heal. It involves building up my leg muscles, I am gonna be a hoss when this is all said and done, my legs are gonna be massive. BUT I will do what I have to do to one day run again. My knees are shot from running incorrectly all of these years. I have also been instructed not to wear high heels for a while. Wow, I am sad, I was really looking forward to wearing stilettos for the 2nd time in my life.

I was looking around my apartment for a book to read tonight, the only one I could find that looked interesting was the Bible. I enjoy going to church (when I can make it), but I have never really sat down and read the Bible, so I started on page one (Mom do not do a back flip, you will break your ankle). Lots of stuff happening on the first 7 days, very very busy first week! Excited to see what happens next :)

I had a dream about Brandy last night, I woke up mad. In my dream, I had a date with this guy; we went to a sports bar and watched a football game. The guy got up from the table and disappeared for like 2 quarters and then returned. Turns out, Brandy had picked him up, took him home, slept with him, and then dropped him back off. I found out and tracked her down at our old house in Woodstock. I fully intended on beating her up, but she ran from me! I couldn't catch her, that damn Brandy put it into 5th gear and booked it across the lawn, so I just chased her around the yard for like an hour, I never did catch her, then I woke up. That damn hoochie.
